Our time to act. A step to bring a revolution.

I wanted to write about this for a long time. After watching Satyamev Jayate yesterday, I finally got the inspiration to put it into words and share this.

'Samaaj'...what is it? It's just a word that we use to camouflage our wrong acts. Why do we let this 'samaaj' influence our lives so much that we are not able to breathe easily even after inhaling clean air?!
Female Foeticide is a crime that is prevailing in our country, anywhere and everywhere...in villages, in hospitals...by the Doctors (who are known to "save" lives)! But they cannot be blamed alone. They do it because of us! Because we demand it! Why? Because the 'samaaj' demands a boy child (their vansh...while the girl child is considered to be a liability) from a new bride. Sigh. A child is God's gift.

Girls, do you think that if you'd have a girl child then would you love her any less than a  boy child in the same place?
Same question for the boys. Boys, ask yourself from deep inside...in future, would you really want your wife to deliver a boy rather than a girl?! For the sake of your parents? The society? For whom? Because of whom?!
Girl or a boy, both are human beings, right? Not giving a damn to that useless 'samaaj', I think there's hardly anyone whose happiness and love would depend on their child's gender.
Samaaj is nothing. It is us. And we are a part of it. 'Samaaj ka darr' needs to be demolished from everyone's mind and it requires our commitment. If each one of us, as an individual, pledge that neither will we ever be a part of this heinous crime nor witness it mutely. It is true- Every drop makes the ocean.

The Constitution gives us the Right to Life so that we live and let live. It's not a license to take others' lives. Everyone of us are persons with dignity and integrity. So, this is the time to prove it.
Today, right now, at this moment I pledge that I'd never be a part of killing a girl child, will never let it happen around me and will always raise voice against those who do it.
So, who else is pledging this today? It's a test for your integrity. Stick to this promise throughout your life.
